About Sex Is...
Sex Is… is a DC Health campaign that encourages open, honest, and judgment-free conversations about sex and sexual health among youth and between youth and trusted adults.
Launched in October 2017, Sex Is… was developed to start a youth-friendly, city-wide conversation around sex. Young people in DC asked us to help make it easier for them to talk openly and honestly about sex, sexuality, and sexual health with their friends, partners, and most importantly, the adults in their lives. Adults have also asked for ideas on how to have these discussions with young people.
Everyone could use some help getting the conversation started; that’s where we come in!
Join us in learning about sex, sharing what you learn with each other, and being who you are.
No judgment, just realness.
Youth Advisory Board...
The Youth Advisory Board is a group of DC residents between the ages of 12-24 who help shape and guide Sex Is…. Board members learn how to:
- talk to peers and adults about the campaign and sexual health
- conduct community outreach and public speaking
- develop campaign designs, promotional materials, and public engagement strategy
- represent the campaign at various community events, conferences, and workshops
